The Black Hoof

When we started working with Carlos from the Black Hoof, he had only just moved to Dalry Road from the working in the middle east. He had set up a beautiful Spanish Restaurant that focused on Jamon Iberico. After speaking to Carlos, it was clear that his ambitions were to rub shoulders with some of the biggest Jamon retailers in the world. Now Carlos is among the biggest retailers in the UK and is setting his sights on the rest of Europe. During our time with Carlos we have worked on: SEO, Link Building, Website Design, Technical Support & Site Duplication/Migration, Email Marketing & PPC.

Results

To begin with, Carlos needed a website. We designed and built his website from scratch and implemented SEO best practice. Although Carlos had set his website up to be an ecommerce website, we felt that it would be best to focus on the ‘Spanish Restaurant Edinburgh’ keyword family to bring customers into his new shop. We managed to get the website on the first page of ‘Spanish Restaurants Edinburgh’ and ‘Tapas Edinburgh’ which gave Carlos a spike in custom. We decided that it would be best to focus on the websites ecommerce potential and change the focus to the product category pages. We are now ranked within the top 5 results for the biggest ‘Jamon’ searches in the UK’. At this time we started to tap into PPC and what traffic that could bring – due to the PPC implementation the Black Hoof has had a huge increase in custom (this is not reflected in to the graph below).

The peaks and falls in the graph are down to the seasonal nature of Jamon in the UK. Jamon is in extreme demand from November until just before Christmas: for 2 years in a row, the Black Hoof has maxed out.

The Outcome

Carlos is now one of the biggest retailers in the UK and Ireland. He sells his jamon in Scotland, London, Europe and China. Although the Jamon market is currently small, it is forever growing and Carlos is in good stead for his business to increase further. From February 2018 to August 2018 we have seen a 600% increase in organic traffic.

What’s next?

Our sights are now set on Europe. Over the last couple of months we have been working on a fleet of website that target other countries in Europe. We auctioned the site migration and duplication so that the hoof has multiple websites that focus on Ireland, France and Germany.
