CBD Industry SEO Case Studies

The CBD industry is almost brand new and therefore an exciting industry to be involved in. What makes this industry perfect for people with our skill set is the fact that CBD products cannot be marketed freely with PPC or Social Media marketing schemes. Therefore, SEO is really the only robust digital marketing scheme that a CBD company can employ.

If you are a CBD company, we are very selective as to who we work with. We do not work with companies who are not compliant with UK regulations, or who sell substandard products.

1

One of the most well known CBD company in Scotland is ‘Hemp Can Help’ from Edinburgh. They were the first ‘not-for-profit’ social enterprise that were dedicated to CBD. First, we were commissioned to build the companies ecommerce website to replace an existing website from Google (which was rubbish) and help to drive sales. To begin targeting terms relating to CBD in Scotland, and brand specific key terms.

Hemp Can Help currently holds the top spot for ‘CBD oil in Scotland’ and ‘CBD Paste UK’. Alongside a wide range of buyer inteded keywords, HEMP also rank highly for a range of informational searches.

Finally, the last example is a no longer a client of ours, but we had an immeasurable impact on their business. We started working with the company and started by advising that their website needed to be updated and moved to wordpress- we helped them build a new ecommerce website.

During the website build we started to implement SEO best practice, create key-word focused content & build links to these pages. With in a matter of weeks, the company was ranked within the first three results of ‘CBD Oil Scotland’, ‘CBD Oil Edinburgh” and ‘CBD Oil Glasgow’ which brought in lots of new traffic and customers- the company grew exponentially. We also manged to rank the company on the first page for UK key terms- such as ‘CBD Isolate’, CBD Paste’ & ‘Buy Organic CBD Oil uk’ and as close as the top result of the second page for ‘CBD Oil UK’ (20,000 searches monthly) This ranking was changed with the August Google Update 2018. Monthly, we managed to consistently see over 3500 organic hits per month – a peak being just under 5000 before the update.

As an e-commerce website, we worked on optimizing the ‘conversion rate’ and get as many sales as we could from the organic traffic. We have managed to keep the conversion rate above 4.5% which has improved as time has gone on. We managed to help create a financial platform which enabled them to grow and build their company further.

They were averaging more than 600 users a day and had a revenue from absolutely zero sales online, to just under £200K annually.
